Survival in a Digital World

Web 2.0, text messaging, twitter, digital entertainment – yes we have all heard of them and are an integral aspect of today’s world.  All digital mediums have relevant audiences and practicality; however, what are the impacts to personal traits, information based actions or reactions and human interactive relations?  Have we lost contact with the social species we’ve been for millions of years?  Isn’t it true most conduct themselves differently through electronic access than with human contact.  Have you ever written a tempered email to a business to state your concerns, but normally wouldn’t do this in person or on the phone?  Are we hiding behind the communications mechanisms?    I’ve believe this all to be true as we live behind a facade or perhaps feel or pretend we are someone else.

Have you ever sat down to have a conversation with an individual and all they continually do is look at their cell phone multiple times.  How about a person who is so consumed by texting, they forget their surroundings, become inattentive and walk into a wall?  An employee which can’t seem to get their job done because they are always instant messaging or on My Space………..

Certainly today’s era is more complex and an information abundance is available which anyone can obtain if they desire.  Technology is great and has made life more open and interesting, though let’s not forget there is life beyond cells phones and laptops.
