NASCAR Chase and Patriots Vs Radiers: Episode 78

Dave and Steve are reunited on this week’s Sports Unleashed show. Steve, our resident NASCAR expert, provides a healthy analysis of the “Chase for the Cup.” Two races into the chase, we see that fuel mileage and racing strategy has been the deciding factor between a checked flag and a second place victory. Who stands out as a favorite in the early stages of the chase and how may be willing to take that big chance? 8 races remain and that means plenty of more NASCAR drama.

The Patriots demonstrated some weakness in their loss to the Bills. The Raiders flexed their muscles against a tough and ready Jets team. Now, the Pats and Raiders meet in Week 4 in a matchup that will boast plenty of emotion from the likes of Raider Nation and The Black Hole. Steve has been a lifelong fan of the Raiders and Dave grew up in a Raider household…so this game is personal. Get our complete analysis of the game. Who wins? What are the key matchups?

NFL Week Two Surprises: Episode 77

It feels like football season. Dave and Ryan abide in this weeks episode.

SUL simply loves early season surprises. The Redskins are 2-0? Say what? The Chiefs (13-3 last season) are 0-2 and have been beaten by a combined score of 89-10? Huh? For as much talent as there is in the NFC East, and all the star power names we can think of, the Washington Redskins are the least of those thoughts.Their best player is captain and starting LB London Fletcher, who came from John Carroll University, a NCAA Division III school that maybe enrolls around 4,000 students.Their QB is Rex Grossman. Let’s just leave it at that. The Lions are currently 2-0, riding high, and play a big road game in Minnesota this week. Obviously stopping RB Adrian Peterson is easier said than done, but no one is playing with as much confidence as the The Motor City right now.And even if we expected them to be better, it’s almost hard to believe, which only adds to their motivation. Wasn’t it just three years ago this franchise went 0-16? Even more so than the Detroit Lions, the Buffalo Bills are really making some jaws drop after only two weeks. This is what the NFL is all about – so enjoy it. Only a matter of time before we see the Patriots, Packers, Steelers and Eagles in the playoffs.

SUL 76 - The NFL is Back

After some recent attendance issues, Dave and Ryan are itching to get back at it in episode 76. What better way to return to normalcy that a full show on all things NFL.

Week One had some surprises, some blowouts and and a few impressive rookie debuts. While it is far too soon to draw broad conclusions from the first week of the regular season, there were a few things that caught the eye of the SUL guys. Falcons coach Mike Smith said it best after his team was demolished by the Bears in Chicago. . “It’s a long season. It’s Week 1.” But, the Buffalo Bills handing the Chiefs their worst opening day loss in team history? The Pittsburgh Steelers turned the ball over seven times in losing to division rival Baltimore? The Colts are completely hopeless without Peyton Manning? Only time will tell if these trends can continue.

It was a good week for first-year player performances. Randall Cobb had a 32 yard TD catch and a 108 yard kick return for the Packers in their impressive win over the Saints. Cam Newton threw for 422 yards in his debut. Also, Patrick Peterson returned a punt for the deciding TD in the Cardinals win. Keep an eye on these rooks.

Two big games to pay attention to this week. San Diego Chargers at New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles travel to the dirty south to take on the Atlanta Falcons.

Enjoy!
