Rewards Cards. More piles of plastic or useful?

Have you been anywhere lately and during check out you are asked “Do you have your rewards card?”  Ah no……..  “Would you like to apply for one?”  Ah no……… “You’ll save”   Ah…… no thanks.

What is it with consumer reward cards?  Everyone has them now, Kmart, Auto Zone, grocery stores, Best Buy, your local liquor store!!!!  If you need a rewards card at a liquor store, then you are an alcoholic.  If you had to carry a rewards card for every place you visit, you’d need a dump truck to haul them around.  Yes, it’s nice to save a bit of money when purchasing items, but is truly worth the data collection of your buying habits, wallet stuffed full of cards, junk mail, email garbage?  Overall reward cards are not worth the effort unless associated with an establishment you frequent.
