Own a Piece of Apple History

Two historically significant pieces of ancient computer hardware are going on the market. The first Macintosh Plus ever built is going on auction in October, and the owner of one of the last known Apple I units which were built by Steve Wozniak in his garage will also be auctioned for sale on eBay.

The 1 MB Mac Plus, serial number F4200NUM0001, was built in 1986 and given as a gift by Wozniak and Jobs to Gene Roddenberry who directed Star Trek: A VERY famous series starting from 1969. The auction includes the keyboard, external DS/DD 3.5″ floppy drive and the padded carrying case. These are VERY vintage!

They’re estimating a price of $800 – $1200, which is about half what it sold for new. No indication of whether AppleCare is available for this model. Also, for all you Star Trek fans, there are some props and suits being sold there, too. (He was a Star Trek fan too, you know.)

Meanwhile, an “82-year-old antique” computer enthusiast wrote into David Einstein’s Computing Q&A column on SFGate.com to say he’s selling his vintage 1976 Apple I, one of 30 to 50 of the original 200 or so handmade by Stephen Wozniak that are thought to still exist. Wow, only 200?  Einstein himself said this computer would sell at $13,000-$14,000 which is a reasonable price. I personally think this computer will go for at least  $100,000 because of apple’s fame. If you are rich, go buy this thing! You will become the proud owner a piece of Apple history!

This is definitely one unique computer because its 20 plus years old history. Also, this computer only has 1 MB ram! That will DEFINITELY never happen to another computer ever again.  I remember back then when we had these Mac’s. (Good times, good times…) I feel so old now!
