Favorite iPhone Apps

Having the new iPhone 3GS means having a tremendous amount of apps available for my viewing and using. I thought I could share with everyone my favorite apps that I have located so far. I have spent several hours combing through the App Store trying to customize my phone to match my personality and interests. Find apps that match your personality, customize your phone, and get up to date material in all areas of your life. To date, I have only purchased one app and the rest have been free downloads. Here are my favorites…

News Apps – NPR and Huffington Post: Both apps allow you to search for news stories in specific areas of interest such as science, health, politics, business, and international. NPR allows you to listen to on-air, live broadcast from any station across the nation. The Huff Post provides videos, blogging, and entertainment feeds as well. Both are great apps that are free and informative.

Other News Apps: Wall Street Journal, New York Times, iSites, WH News, My Gov, AMBER Alert

Social Networking App – Facebook: The app is perfectly designed and is easy to maneuver around. Here are the nine functions set up for this app: News Feed, Profile, Friends, inbox, Chat, Requests, Events, Photos, and Notes. The notification bar send alerts your way and the viewing is simple. I have notices some photo albums take a while to transition to the next photo. Overall, a great app for use on the iPhone.

Other SNS Apps: TweetDeck, Skype, and MySpace

Sports App – ESPN ScoreCenter: Provides dynamic scores and info on auto racing, baseball, basketball, cricket, football, golf, ice hockey, rugby, soccer, and tennis. This is a great customizable application that is perfect for those sports fans that cannot see all the games or check any of the highlights. Using the Gamecast feature allows you to see live action, summary of the game stats, and a breakdown of the action.

Other Sports Apps: Dan Patrick, LA Times Sports, FOX Sports

Music App – iheartradio: This app from Clear Channel is sweet. I have the ability to listen to on-air station broadcasts in a variety of formats and locales around the nation. I can listen to alternative, rock, classic hits, adult hits, jazz, sports, news talk, etc. If you prefer a specific radio DJ, this app may have that personality available for listening. Create a favorites list and tag songs for purchase at a later date.

Other Music Apps: Last.fm and Slacker Radio

I touched on four different areas of interest in this posting. These may or may not be of any interest to you. Either way, I wanted to share how I am customizing my phone to meet my needs and preferences. My next post will consist of four other areas that I am interested in. If you have an iPhone, enjoy the experience. If you do not, don’t hesitate to purchase the 3GS. You will not be disappointed in your investment.
